Molded Carpets

Floor Carpets for Cars, Trucks, SUV's and Vans

The vast majority of our vehicle floor carpets are factory "Molded", with some early models being "Cut and Sewn" as original to fit the contours of the floor pan.  Images of most carpet sets are available in our carpet builder.  Each carpet is available in a variety of colours and material options, so most of our carpets are actually made-to-order just for you.  Colour swatches are offered at no charge, simply e-mail or call us at your convenience with your details and the samples you request.

Carpet Backing  Types

Our Molded Carpets are offered with a choice of two backings whenever possible.

Standard Backing - Molded carpets by definition require a material that can be molded.  All carpets will start with a "Standard" or Poly backing.  Basically, it is a thin layer of poly (plastic) that is added to the mesh carpet backing so that the carpet can be heated and then molded to the correct shape of your floor pan.

MASS Backing - Newer vehicles often have an added sound-dampening layer on their molded carpet.  This layer is called "Mass" and is there for a couple reasons.  The most obvious benefit is the added reduction of annoying noise associated with the floor of your vehicle such as rattles and tires noise.  The heavier backing also makes for a much more defined molded carpet with crisper details for a more desireable look right out of the box. Another unofficial benefit is as a moisture barrier that reduces or even eliminates fluids such as melting snow or spilled drinks from reaching the floor pan and causing unwanted damage to the metal below.  Best of all, even though Mass was not introduced until the early 1980's, we can put MASS backing on virtually any molded carpet we carry, even on a 1957 Chevy carpet!
